Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team uses four second half goals to propel themselves past Thomas more and pick up their first conference win of the 2022 season.
After back-to-back losses to begin conference play, the Blue Raiders got the edge they needed to capture their first conference win, 4-1. LWC tied their most goals scored this season with four, and captured their first win since September 12th.
First chance for the Blue Raiders came off an Alexander Koziolek corner finding the head Amin Fernouchi that rang off the post. Lindsey Wilson had a few more chances in the first half by Sadam Masereka couldn't find the back of the net as they went wide and high, respectively.
Blue Raiders broke the scoring open after Bienfait Ishimwe collected the ball on the left side of the 18-yard box following a cross, then played to Victor Cavalcante who delivered a low strike finding the bottom left corner of the goal, making it 1-0 in the 52nd minute.
Shortly after, Lindsey Wilson picked up a corner kick with Alexander Koziolek taking it, finding the head of a soaring Amin Fernouchi, finishing it unlike his close chance earlier in the game.
Thomas More's Ben Oliver cut into the Lindsey Wilson lead after being played a ball into the box from Matt Lodge, slotting it home making the Blue Raiders apply presure again.
Alexander Koziolek found himself in the right place as he put home the rebound from a Alvaro Verwey shot, making it 3-1 and restoring the Blue Raiders two goal advantage.
In the 85th minute, Sadam Masereka gathers a through ball and finds himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Masereka played it around him with an outside foot touch and tapped it home to the open net, putting the game out of reach for the Saints.
Lindsey Wilson handly outshot Thomas More 20-4, with the Saints registering only one shot on goal to the Blue Raiders 11.
The Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team will be back in action against Shawnee State on October 4 in Portsmouth, Ohio on Shawnee Turf at 6 p.m. CT.
