Elisa Burzio, Alix Stoermer, and Bidwell each provided kills during the initial rally, and Ola Wyrzykowska aided with a pair of aces. Kentucky State found itself on the scoreboard after a rare Blue Raider miscue, but the Thorobreds' points came more sporadically. The Blue Raiders hit hard out of the break to start the middle set. With the score tied at 1-1, a kill by Savanah Pippin ignited an 11-0 swing featuring four consecutive kills from the likes of Bidwell, Pippin, and Wandrie. Thorobred errors helped enable Lindsey Wilson to turn in another lopsided 25-7 score.
Kentucky State did not go away easily in the third set, leading 6-4 early on. The Blue Raiders were swift with a response of five straight points, however, but the Thorobreds continued to stick around with a 10-7 run to knot the score at 16-16. With the service of Haleigh Wood and Luiza Goncalves, Lindsey Wilson outscored Kentucky State 9-1 down the stretch to solidify the match.
Along with her solid efforts in setting, Szwarc also paced the home team with seven digs. Wood led Lindsey Wilson with four service aces.
The Blue Raiders now turn their attention to Thursday evening when they travel up Highway 55 for a highly-anticipated rematch with Campbellsville (Ky.).
