COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team defeated Georgetown 1-0 on Senior Night Wednesday at Walter S. Reuling Stadium/Ray Wells Field.

Efua Asabel scored the lone goal for the Blue Raiders (4-10, 2-3 Mid-South Conference). Gabby Duerson recorded four saves in the shutout. Lindsey Wilson outshot Georgetown (5-6-3, 1-4 MSC) 20-7 and had a 6-4 edge in shots on goal.

The Blue Raiders had a great look in the 33rd minute but were unable to capitalize. Alina Siegel crossed a ball into the box and found Asabel who headed it just wide. In the closing seconds of the first half, Asabel stole the ball at midfield and raced down the field beating the Tiger keeper just as time expired. Lindsey Wilson held a 10-2 edge in shots over Georgetown in the first 45 minutes and a slight 2-1 edge in shots on goal.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the second half. The Blue Raiders recorded 10 shots in the second half with four on goal while Georgetown had five with three on goal. Georgetown had a chance to tie it in the final minutes. The Tigers got a shot that hit off the crossbar and Jenna Adkins put the rebound on goal but Duerson was there to make the save.

Lindsey Wilson closes out its regular season on Monday Oct. 30 when they travel to face No. 3 Cumberlands. Kickoff from the UC Soccer/Lacrosse Complex is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. CT.
