CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team took on Kent State - Tuscarawas on Friday evening for their first matchup of the weekend at the Thomas More Classic.
The Blue Raiders proved victorious in tonight's matchup with a score of 85-69. The Golden Eagles took the initial lead, but the Blue Raiders responded in the sixth minute of play with a layup from Kenyata Carbon, assisted by Jayden Lazard that pushed Lindsey Wilson into the lead. With only six minutes remaining in the half, Kent State took a temporary lead off a three point shot by Braden Rostad, but Carbon responded with a layup moments later to tie the game back up. At the half, the Blue Raiders led over the Golden Eagles 41-35, with Matt Khoury leading with nine points, Lazard with three assists, and Carbon, Khoury, and Barrett Burchyett each tabbing four rebounds.
Coming into the second half of the game, Lindsey Wilson solidified their lead by notching 13 points in the first five minutes of the second half. Leading in points and assists for this half was Carbon with 18 and four, and Burchyett led in rebounds with six. Overall, four Blue Raiders tabbed double digits in points tonight. Carbon led with 26, Connor Robinson contributed 20, Khoury had 12, and Burchyett rounded it off with 10. Burchyett led in rebounds with 10, and Carbon had five assists.
The Blue Raiders will take to the floor tomorrow afternoon to face Cincinnati-Clermont at 12 p.m. CST for their second matchup of the Thomas More Classic.
