Louisville, Ky. – Lindsey Wilson track and field teams wrap up its outdoor regular season schedule this weekend at the Clark Wood Invitational hosted by the University of Louisville (Ky.) before heading into the conference championship next week.
The Blue Raiders were able to secure a few more NAIA standard performances in its individual events along with some top 10 finishes from both sides.
Men's Highlights
-Justin Borden finished at the top of his unseeded group in the high jump where he cleared 2.05 meters, an NAIA "B" standard performance. Borden also landed in fifth in the long jump with a leap of 7.14 meters while cracking the top 10 in the men's triple jump with a jump of 12.76m.
- Edwin Van Wyk qualified for the finals in the 100-meter dash where he finished in seventh overall with a B standard time of 10.56 seconds after placing fifth in the prelims.
- Senior thrower Austin Campbell wraps up his spectacular regular season campaign placing just outside the top five in the discus throw in seventh with a toss of 47.28 meters.
- Darius Willis and LeAndre Bolen represented LWC well in their respective individual events after just missing the top ten in the men's 400-meter hurdles and the shot put. Willis finished in 11th place in hurdles with a time of 56.12 seconds as Bolen launched the shot put 13.76 meters to place him 12th overall.
- Kelvion Wilson, Van Wyk, Elijah Palmer, and Luke Birdsong placed fifth in the 4x100 meter relay with a season best and B standard time of 41.64 seconds.
Women's Highlights
- Senior runner Meredith Johnson placed fifth in 3000-meter run (10:21.61) while also making the top 20 in 800 meter run with a time of two minutes and 16 seconds. Lotte Gertler finished a few spots behind Johnson in the 3000-meter run after running a 12:01.91.
- Luna Senica and Nikki Ravelli competed for Lindsey Wilson in the long jump as they finished 13th and 19th with leaps of 5.54 meters and 5.44 meters, respectively. Ravelli finished just outside the top 20 in the women's shot put after throwing the metal ball 9.89 meters.
- Jordan Nelson, Jozlen Brisbon, Kyra Engel, and Senica also placed fifth in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 48.24 seconds.
Lindsey Wilson is set to compete in the Mid-South Conference Championship next week in Williamsburg, Ky.
