COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson volleyball team improved to 3-0 at Biggers Sports Center this season with a sweep of Brescia on Thursday.

The Blue Raiders (7-6) hit over .350 in two of the three sets with a high of .429 coming in the third. With the victory, Lindsey Wilson has won five-straight matches at home all via sweep dating back to last season.  

Lindsey Wilson had two players record double-digit kills. Aleksandra Wyrzykowska recorded a double-double with a match-high 11 kills and a match-high 11 digs. Madison Bidwell tallied 10 kills while hitting .391. Luiza Goncalves recorded 18 assists while Monika Szwarc had 17.

Lindsey Wilson had a strong showing in the first set as they hit .367 and limited the Bearcats to a -.207 hitting percentage. The Blue Raiders had eight total blocks in the set. Bidwell, Pippin and Wyrzykowska each had four kills. The Blue Raiders took control of the set scoring the first eight points. Lindsey Wilson closed out the set on a 12-3 to win the first set 25-9.

The Blue Raiders jumped out to a 9-4 lead in the second set following a 5-1 run. Brescia responded by scoring nine of the next 11 points to take a 13-11 lead. Lindsey Wilson responded with a 5-0 run of its own to retake the lead at 16-13. The Bearcats then tied the match at 16 before the two teams exchanged points and the set was tied at 20. The Blue Raiders won the second set scoring five of the last seven points.

Lindsey Wilson hit a match-high of .429 in the third set. The Blue Raiders jumped out to a 10-2 lead following a 7-0 run. Brescia went on a 5-1 run to trim the Lindsey Wilson lead to 11-7. Lindsey Wilson then scored eight of the next 10 points to lead 19-9. The two teams then exchanged points for the rest of the set as the Blue Raiders secured the victory with a 25-14 victory.

The Blue Raiders are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Georgetown (Ky.) to open Mid-South Conference play.
