Box Score WINONA LAKE, Ind. - After a hard fought match, the No. 5 Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team ultimately fell to No. 10 Grace on Saturday evening with a score of 1-0.
What proved to be an even matchup, the first half of play was a back and forth battle between the two teams. The Blue Raiders out shot the Lancers 8-3 in the first half of play with shots on goal by Michael Acquah, Rastko Dekic, and Michael Rempel. The first half concluded with the score even at zero.
During the second half, the Lancers brought the energy, out shooting Lindsey Wilson 4-2, and came out on top near the end of the half. The only goal of the match was scored by Grace's Dan Allen in the 75th minute of play and came unassisted. The goal came off of an attempted clear from the box for the Blue Raiders after a previous near goal opportunity for the Lancers in the 18 yard box, catching Pablo Costa and the Blue Raider defense off guard.
A strong effort was made by the Blue Raiders for the remainder of the game, but ended in a tough loss. Lindsey Wilson out shot Grace 10-7, and Pablo Costa had two saves. Yellow cards were evenly dispersed with Lindsey Wilson picking up four and Grace taking three.
The Blue Raiders will be back in action at home on Monday, September 18th, taking on Shawnee State (Ohio) at Walter S. Reuling Stadium - Ray Wells Field at 7 p.m. CST. The match will be broadcasted live on the Lindsey Wilson Sports Network.
