COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team is bringing Mid-South Conference play to Biggers Sports Center this week. The Blue Raiders will host Tennessee-state foes Freed-Hardeman and Bethel on Thursday and Saturday, respectively, putting their perfect record at home to the test.
Lindsey Wilson is coming off a 91-66 loss at ninth-ranked Georgetown (Ky.) last Thursday but are hoping its 7-0 mark at Biggers holds true against the 22nd-ranked Lions and a Wildcats team actively receiving votes in the NAIA Coaches Poll.
Freed-Hardeman opened its Mid-South slate last week with back-to-back wins in Henderson over Cumberland (Tenn.) and Bethel. The Lions currently rank last in the conference in points per game at 66.4 but have allowed a league-low 46.1 points per game.
Sophomore Rachel Satterly, a First-Team All-Conference selection a season ago, averaged 12.0 points and 2.5 rebounds for Freed-Hardeman last week while shooting 34.8 percent. Her teammate KJ White, a Second-Team honoree last winter, contributed 9.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and actively sits fourth in the conference for total defensive rebounds with 76.
The Lions won both meetings with Lindsey Wilson during the 2022-23 season, including an overtime decision in Columbia. Thursday's match-up will tip-off at 3:30 p.m. CST.
Bethel enters the week with two wins in its last four games after going on an 11-game winning streak between November 2 and December 13, 2023.
The 'Cats are led on offense by sophomore Madison Hart who is posting 15.5 points an outing overall and 16.3 points across Bethel's four road games. She is flanked by Alyia Lee and Kylie Reynolds showing scoring averages of 10.5 and 9.9 points, respectively.
As a team, Bethel attempts more three-point field goals per game than any other conference team but are only connecting on 32.0 percent of those tries, which is second-to-worst.
The Wildcats have defeated the Blue Raiders in four of their last six contests. Lindsey Wilson, however, will go for its second consecutive home win in the series at 1 p.m. CST on Saturday.
Home is where the Blue Raiders have enjoyed most of their success so far this season, having won all seven of their games played inside Biggers by an average of 35.3 points.
Lucy Patterson, who currently ranks second in the Mid-South for rebounds per game and 10th in scoring, boasts a stat line of 14.6 points and 8.9 rebounds per game in home games. The junior is shooting 51.3 percent from the floor in all games and is one of three Blue Raiders in the top-10 of the conference for free throw percentage, as well.
Both of this week's women's basketball games will be streamed on the Lindsey Wilson Sports Network.
