COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team earned its first Mid-South Conference win of the season with a 6-3 victory against Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) Tuesday at Walter S. Reuling Stadium/Ray Wells Field.
The Blue Raiders (4-5-2) had five different goal scorers in the victory.
Dominic Ayella had two goals while
Juan Sola,
Lucas Migon,
Jaland Larmond and
Jean-Wikes Dutreuil each had one.
Sebastian Tregarthen tallied three assists while
Michael Rempel had one.
Lindsey Wilson held a 28-10 edge in shots over the Lions and held a 15-5 advantage in shots on goal.
The Blue Raiders came out aggressive registering four shots with one on goal in the first five minutes. Lindsey Wilson struck first in the 11th minute on a goal from Ayella with Tregarthen picking up the assist. Ayella scored his second goal in the 24th minute off of a Rempel cross. Sola increased the Lindsey Wilson lead to 3-0 in the 37th minute. Tregarthen played a cross into the box that found Sola who headed it past the Lion goalkeeper.
Freed-Hardeman got on the board in the final seconds of the first half. After a Blue Raider foul in the box, Thabo Mahlaha's penalty kick was stopped by Canuto. Mahlaha was right there for the rebound to cut the Blue Raider lead to 3-1. Lindsey Wilson held a 15-6 advantage in shots and had 7-3 edge in shots on goal.
Sola increased the Lindsey Wilson lead to 4-1 just minutes into the second half. Tregarthen flicked the ball to Sola who fired it past the Lion goalkeeper in the 48th minute. Larmond added a goal in the 57th minute to make it 5-1. Dutreuil converted a penalty kick in the 73rd minute increasing the Blue Raider lead to 6-1. The Lions got their second goal of the night in the 75th minute on a goal Avery Flener with Brandon Carrillo picking up the assist. Mahlaha scored his second goal of the night with 31 seconds left.
The Blue Raiders return to action for a MSC matchup at Georgetown (Ky.) on Friday October 18 at 7 p.m. CT.
