COLUMBIA, Ky.-- In a competitive match-up, the Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team fell to No. 1 Cumberlands (Ky.) with a final score of 3-0.
The Blue Raiders showcased a solid defensive effort in the first half, successfully holding the Cumberlands scoreless and maintaining control of the game's pace. The second half, however, saw increased intensity as both teams pushed for scoring opportunities which ultimately led to Lindsey Wilson's downfall.
Jayden Boelter for the Patriots was the player who broke through, netting goals in the 52nd and 73rd minutes. In the closing moments of the match, Rita Aguye found the back of the net in the 88th minute, assisted by Samantha Sokolove, to secure the Patriots victory.
Goalkeeper Alida Leles for the Blue Raiders made eight saves throughout the match, demonstrating her resilience despite the outcome. Lara Rocha led the team with two shots and recorded Lindsey Wilson's lone shot on goal.
The Blue Raiders were out-shot by the Patriots 20-4 and Cumberlands held an 11-1 edge in shots on goal.
The Blue Raiders will look to bounce back in their next match-up when they travel next Tuesday to face off against No.17 Cumberland University (Tenn.) at 1 pm CST.
