COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team opened its 2024-25 season with a 95-58 victory over Carolina Saturday at Biggers Sports Center.
The Blue Raiders shot 50 percent (36-of-72) from the field and connected on 13 of their 29 shots from beyond the arc. Lindsey Wilson out-rebounded the Bruins 43-32 in the victory.
Julian Cunningham scored a game-high 26 points on 10-of-12 shooting and going 5-of-6 from beyond the arc.
Johrdon Mumford scored 15 points while
Olson Nicholson added 14.
Kenyata Carbon had 11 points and a game-high seven assists.
The Blue Raiders opened the game scoring six of the first eight points. Lindsey Wilson got out to a 14-5 lead after scoring eight-straight points. Carolina then scored the next five points to trim the Blue Raider lead to 14-10. Lindsey Wilson scored 10 of the next 12 points increasing its lead to 24-12 with 8:34 to play in the half. The Blue Raiders ended the half on a 15-7 run sparked by back-to-back threes by Cunningham to lead 47-22.
Lindsey Wilson opened the second half scoring 14 of the first 16 points as they increased the lead to 59-29 with 16:36 to play. During the run, the Blue Raiders were 5-of-5 from the field and made two threes. Following a Bruin three, Lindsey Wilson put together a 13-1 run increasing to lead 72-33. Carolina then went on a 7-2 run to trim the Blue Raider advantage to 74-40. The Blue Raiders responded scoring eight of the next 10 points. Lindsey Wilson remained in control as they got the 95-58 victory.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Monday when they host Campbellsville-Harrodsburg (Ky.) at 6 p.m. CT at Biggers Sports Center.
