Men’s Soccer Defeats Campbellsville on Senior Night; Win MSC Regular Season Title

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team defeated Campbellsville 5-2 on Senior Night Monday at Ray Wells Field at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.

With the victory, the Blue Raiders win the Mid-South Conference regular season championship for the 16th time and earn the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. As the top seed, Lindsey Wilson will host the semifinals and final in Columbia.

Dominic Ayella scored a pair of goals for the Blue Raiders while Sebastian Tregarthen, Kenn Muendo and Michael Rempel each had one. Ayella, Jaland Larmond and Rempel each tallied an assist. The Blue Raiders outshot the Tigers 24-13 and had a 10-6 edge in shots on goal.

Ayella got the Blue Raiders on the board first in the 16th minute. Larmond took a run with the ball along the side of the box and played a low pass to Ayella who fired it past the Tiger keeper. In the 22nd minute, Rempel played a cross into the box that found Ayella who put in the back of the net. Campbellsville responded just 27 seconds later on a goal from Jarred Hendricks to make it 2-1. Tregarthen added to the Blue Raider lead to 3-1 in the 27th minute with Ayella earning the assist. In the first 45 minutes, Lindsey Wilson held a 15-4 edge in shots and a 6-1 advantage in shots on goal.

Jared Hendricks scored his second goal of the night for Campbellsville in the 69th minute trimming the Lindsey Wilson advantage to 3-2. Muendo's initial shot was blocked and on the rebound he got it past the Tiger goalkeeper giving the Blue Raiders a 4-2 lead in the 77th minute. Rempel gave Lindsey Wilson a 5-2 lead in the 90th minute.

The Blue Raiders turn their preparations to the MSC Tournament and will host the semifinals on Monday, Nov. 11 at Ray Wells Field at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
