MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Lindsey Wilson baseball team wrapped up its four-game series with Faulkner (Ala.) Saturday sweeping a doubleheader at Harrison Field
The Blue Raiders (4-4) rallied in game on scoring six runs in the top of the seventh for the 6-2 victory. Lindsey Wilson completed the sweep winning game two 17-5.
Sam Gage went 3-for-4 in game one while
Koby Wall drove in a pair of runs.
Chance Stayton and
Bryce Sidler each recorded two hits. Stayton,
Caden Davis and
Andres Duran each drove in a run.
Mason Malone earned the win throwing a complete game allowing just one earned run, five hits, three walks and striking out six.
Jonthan Barham hit a home run and drove in four runs in game two.
Nazhir Bergen also recorded a home run and three RBIs. Gage recorded a pair of hits and a double.
Glenn Simes got the win pitching six innings allowing five runs on nine hits, walking a pair and recording seven strikeouts.
Reed Marcum pitched an inning of relief allowing no hits while walking a pair.
Game 1: Lindsey Wilson 6 Faulkner 2
Faulkner struck first in the second inning. The Eagles had runners on first and second after a leadoff single and a walk. Following a double play, Wesley Estrella got Faulkner on the board with an RBI-single up the middle. Faulkner added a run in the third to take a 2-0 advantage.
Down to their final three outs, the Blue Raider offense came alive in the top of the seventh.
Matthew Schultz drew a leadoff walk and advance to second on a balk. Schultz advanced to third on an infield single from Gage. Schultz scored on a balk to make it 2-1. Lindsey Wilson tied the game 2-2 on Stayton double to right-center. Wall walked and then Bergen reached on an error to load the bases. Sidler doubled down the right field line to give the Blue Raiders a 4-2 lead. Duran and Davis each drove in a run to give Lindsey Wilson the 6-2 advantage.
Game 2: Lindsey Wilson 17 Faulkner 5
The Lindsey Wilson offense exploded in game two scoring 15 runs in the first three innings. Stayton drove in the first run in the top of the first on a double to center field. Stayton then scored on a passed ball to give the Blue Raiders a 2-0 lead. Bergen capped off the top half of the first with a two-run home run to increase the lead to 4-0. Faulkner scored in the bottom of the first on a two-run home run.
Lindsey Wilson led 6-2 after scoring a pair of runs in the second. The Blue Raiders scored nine runs in the third. Barham hit a three-run home run to give Lindsey Wilson a 9-2 lead. A bases-load walk and hit by pitch increased the lead to 11-2. Bergen and Sidle each drove in a run making it 13-2. The Blue Raiders last two runs of the inning came on back-to-back bases-loaded walks.
Faulkner cut the Blue Raider lead to 15-5 scoring three runs in the fourth inning. The Blue Raiders scored their final two runs in the seventh on a wild pitch and a hit by pitch.
Lindsey Wilson is back in action on Friday when they travel to Talladega (Ala.) for a three-game series against beginning at 1 p.m. CT.
