COLUMBIA, Ky, - The Lindsey Wilson baseball team fell to Freed-Hardeman 6-5 this afternoon in their first of three games against the Lions this weekend.
Chance Stayton and Andres Duran both had multi-hit games, and a total of four Blue Raiders brought in runs.
Cohen Achen made his fifth start of the season, pitching six innings and striking out four while allowing three earned runs on five hits.
Freed-Hardeman got the scoring started in the third inning, and the Blue Raiders responded in the fourth with a two run home run by Jonathan Barham, also bringing in Andres Duran which gave Lindsey Wilson the lead.
Going into the fifth inning, the Blue Raiders trailed by one run. Stayton hit a single to right field that allowed Gabe Board to bring in a run, tying the game at three.
The Blue Raiders found themselves trailing by three runs in the seventh inning. Duran hit a two run home run, his fourth home run of the season, to shorten the deficit to one going into the eighth inning.
Trailing by two in the bottom of the ninth, Stayton hit his fifth home run of the season, bringing the score to 6-5. The ninth inning effort was ultimately not enough for the Blue Raiders to pull out a win.
The remaining two games of the homestand are set to be played on Sunday, March 17 at Egnew Park. The first game will begin at 12 p.m. CST and will be streamed live on the Lindsey Wilson Sports Network.
