Baseball Opens Conference Play Against Freed-Hardeman at Home

COLUMBIA, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson baseball team will be taking on No. 18 Freed-Hardeman University (Tenn.) this weekend at Egnew Park for the first conference game of the season.

The Blue Raiders are 12-10 overall, coming off a 6-10 loss in a single game against Bryan College (Tenn.) on Wednesday. Chance Stayton has recorded 25 hits this season, with six leading to extra bases and four being home runs. Sam Gage and Matthew Schultz have both tallied 19 hits, with both players earning the Blue Raiders extra bases on their at bats as well as one home run for Gage. Cohen Achen has made six appearances this season, recording three wins and 49 strikeouts in total. The last meeting between Freed-Hardeman and Lindsey Wilson was on April 28, 2023, where the Lions blanked the Blue Raiders 17-0. Freed leads in the overall series record by 16-5 and currently holds a seven game winning streak against Lindsey.

Freed-Hardeman currently has a record of 19-6 overall and most recently fell to No. 10 Missouri Baptist 19-6 in an 8 inning game on Tuesday. Junior Brady Spring has recorded 25 hits so far this season, with four extra bases and four home runs, while Jordan Carter, Adam Smithson, and Christian Presley have had 23 hits with each earning extra bases and have had four, five, and two home runs apiece respectively. Leading in home runs with seven is freshman Cade Fuller. Colton Huntt has made six starting appearances for the Lions, recording four wins.

Saturday's game is set to begin at 2 p.m. CST and Sunday's games are scheduled for 12 and 3 p.m. CST. All three games will be streamed live on the Lindsey Wilson Sports Network.
