GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson baseball team closed out its Mid-South Conference series at Georgetown with a 14-4 victory Sunday at Robert N. Wilson Field
.
With the victory, the Blue Raiders improve to 13-16 and 1-5 in the MSC.
Koby Wall had an outstanding day at the plate going 3-for-4 while driving in seven runs and hitting a home run.
Gabe Board,
Chance Stayton,
Jonathan Barham and
Sam Gage each recorded two hits. Barham drove in three runs while Bergin drove in a pair and hit a home run.
Jonathan Phipps pitched all seven innings allowing two earned runs, four hits, five walks and five strikeouts.
Board led off the first with a single and Stayton hit a single and then advanced to second on a Tiger error that put Board on third. Wall got the Blue Raiders on the board with a two-RBI double down the right field line. Georgetown tied the game in the bottom of the first on an error and a sacrifice fly.
Back-to-back flyouts to begin the second were followed by back-to-back singles from Gage and Board. Stayton was hit by a pitch to load the bases before a walk and another hit by pitch increased the Lindsey Wilson lead to 4-2.
The Blue Raiders took control of the game scoring five runs in the top half of the third.
Matthew Schultz and
Bryce Sidler hit back-to-back singles to begin the inning. Following a strikeout, Gage brought in Schultz with an RBI-single to make it 5-2. Board drew a walk to load the bases with one out. After a strikeout, Wall singled up the middle bringing home a pair of runs. Lindsey Wilson increased the lead to 8-2 after an error on a double steal allowed Board to score. Barham hit an RBI-single to make it 9-2.
Georgetown added a run in the home half of the third to make it 9-3. Bergen hit a two-run home run in the fourth to push the Lindsey Wilson lead to 11-3. Barham made it 12-3 in the top of the fifth on a sacrifice fly. The Tigers scored their final run of the game in the bottom of the fifth. Wall extended the Blue Raider lead to double digits at 14-4 with a two-run home run. Phipps retied Georgetown in order in the bottom of the seventh to get the run-rule victory.
Lindsey Wilson is back in action on Friday in Williamsburg, Kentucky for the first of a three-game conference series against No 5 Cumberlands at 3 p.m. CT.
