COLUMBIA, Ky. – With the game tied at 11,
Chance Stayton hit a single into right field to give Lindsey Wilson a 12-11 walk off victory over Tennessee Southern Tuesday at Egnew Park.
The Blue Raiders entered the bottom of the ninth trailing 11-10.
Matthew Schultz led off the bottom of the ninth getting hit by a pitch. Schultz then scored from first on a throwing error which allowed
Gabe Board to advance to third. Stayton lined the 1-1 pitch into right field bringing home Board and winning the game for the Blue Raiders.
Tennessee Southern scored once in the top of the ninth taking an 11-10 lead after the Blue Raiders scored three in the home half of the eighth to tie the game at 10.
Jackson Steele drove in two cutting the Firehawk lead to 10-9.
Koby Wall tied the game with a sacrifice fly.
The Firehawks struck first in the second inning scoring a run. Lindsey Wilson sent 11 batters to the plate in the third scoring six runs. Two bases-loaded hit by pitches in the inning gave the Blue Raiders a 2-1 lead.
Bryce Sidler then cleared the bases with a grand slam increasing the Lindsey Wilson lead to 6-1. Tennessee Southern answered back scoring three runs in the fifth and four in the seventh to lead 8-6. Sider hit his second home run of the game in the seventh to trim the deficit to 8-7.
Board, Steele, Sidler and Schultz all recorded two hits. Sidler drove in five runs while Steele and Wall each had two RBIs.
Reed Marcum earned the win to improve to 3-0 on the season.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Friday hosting Campbellsville in game on of a Mid-South Conference series at 3 p.m. CT at Egnew Park.
