COLUMBIA, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson baseball team opened their series against Campbellsville (Ky.) with a 7-2 win on Friday afternoon.
Gabe Board had a multi-hit game and a total of five Blue Raiders brought runs in.
Cohen Achen pitched six innings and recorded 12 strikeouts while allowing two earned runs on three hits. Gannon Herring pitched for three innings and recorded five strikeouts while allowing no runs and just one hit. Combined, both pitchers faced 34 batters and tabbed 17 strikeouts, striking out half of the batters they faced.
The Blue Raiders started off the scoring in the third inning, when Jonathan Barham doubled through the left side allowing Board to score the first run of the day.
In the fourth, Matthew Schultz singled which allowed Andres Duran to score the second run of the day and Bryce Sidler scored the third run off the same hit due to an error by the Tiger defense.
Jackson Steele had a hit in the fifth inning that was fumbled by the Tiger defense, allowing Chance Stayton to score on the error.
In the sixth inning, Board singled to left field, bringing Kobe Wall home for the fifth run of the day. Board followed up his hit in the sixth with a two run home run in the eighth inning to round off the scoring for the Blue Raiders.
The series will continue on Saturday, April 20th at Egnew Park with the first game beginning at 12 p.m. CST. In between games, the Blue Raiders will be recognizing this year's senior class. The game will be broadcasted live on the Lindsey Wilson Sports Network.
