COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson baseball team dropped a Mid-South Conference doubleheader to Bethel (Tenn.) on Saturday at Egnew Park.
The Blue Raiders (13-21, 1-11 MSC) fell in game one 12-4 and dropped game two 16-3.
Bryce Sidler led Lindsey Wilson in game one with three hits and also drove in a run.
Sam Gage and
Nazhir Bergen each had two hits while Bergen hit a two-run home run.
Chance Stayton and
Jonathan Barham each had two hits and Barham hit a home run.
Game One: Bethel 12 Lindsey Wilson 4 (7 Innings)
Bethel (25-8, 6-5 MSC) struck first in the first inning scoring four runs on five hits and capitalizing on one Lindsey Wilson error.
Matthew Schultz led off the bottom of the third reaching on a Wildcat error. Schultz then stole second and advanced to third on an infield single from Sidler. Following back-to-back outs,
Sam Gage doubled to right field to score Schultz and make it 4-1.
The Wildcats added a pair of runs in the fourth and scored three in the fifth to take a 9-1 lead. Following a lead-off single from Sidler in the home half of the fifth, Bergen hit a home run to center field to trim the Bethel lead to 9-3. Sidler hit an RBI-single in the bottom of the sixth to make it 9-4. Bethel increased its lead to 12-4 scoring three runs in the seventh.
Game Two: Bethel 16 Lindsey Wilson 3 (7 Innings)
Just like game one the Wildcats got off to a fast start scoring four runs in the first. Bethel added a pair in the top of the second. Barham led off the bottom of the second with a solo home run to right. Bethel pushed across three runs in the third to increase its lead to 9-1.
Bethel scored four in the fifth, added a pair in the sixth and one in the seventh to increase the lead to 16-1.
Gabe Board doubled to left scoring Bergin in the seventh and scored on a double play which made it 16-3.
The two teams close out the series at Noon CT on Sunday at Egnew Park.
