BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The sixth-seeded Lindsey Wilson baseball team fell to top-seeded Cumberlands (Ky.) 18-1 Thursday at Bowling Green Ballpark.
The Blue Raiders are now in the elimination bracket and will take on No. 5 seed Campbellsville in the first elimination game of the tournament at 11 a.m. CT on Friday.
Bryce Sidler led Lindsey Wilson with a pair of hits while
Jonathan Barham drove in the lone run for the Blue Raiders. Barham,
Sam Gage and
Gabe Board each recorded a hit.
Gage recorded a one-out single in the top of the third and then stole second on a strikeout. He then advanced to third on a wild pitch. Barham then reached on an infield single to give the Blue Raiders a 1-0 advantage.
Cumberlands responded in the bottom half of the third taking the lead scoring a pair of runs. The Patriots tacked on four more runs in the fourth pushing their lead to 6-1. Cumberlands scored six runs in both the fifth and sixth innings. Following a leadoff walk in the top of the seventh, the next three Blue Raiders were retired for the run rule to be enforced.
