COLUMBIA, Ky. - The No.18 ranked Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team opened its 2024 season with a 1-1 draw against Southeastern (Fla.) Thursday on the first day of the Ray Wells Classic at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
The Blue Raiders (0-0-1) scored the opener in the first stages of the second half, as
Sebastian Tregarthen converted a penalty kick in the 58th minute. Southeastern was down to ten men in the 59th minute due to a red card on Arthur Bello. Lindsey Wilson could not capitalize on this advantage and conceded a goal in the 75th minute.
The game started with high intensity, particularly from the Blue Raiders, who recorded five shots in the first 15 minutes. The rest of the first half didn't have much action apart from five yellow cards handed by the referee, three for the Fire and two for Lindsey.

Dominic Ayella, earned a penalty thanks to a great touch that forced the Fire goalkeeper, Henrique Cavalini, off his line and made contact with the attacker. Tregarthen took his chance and scored his first goal of the season from the spot.
Southeastern's Victor Cavalante, missed a penalty in the 72nd minute. Cavalcante redeemed himself by scoring in the 75th minute from outside the box to equalize . The team was unable to find the net in the last 15 minutes of play and had to settle for a draw in the opening match of the season.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Saturday when they face Spring Arbor (Mich.) at 7 p.m. CT for the final game of the Ray Wells Classic at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
