JACKSON, Tenn. – The Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team kicked off its 2024 season against Oklahoma Wesleyan for the third consecutive year on Saturday morning. The Blue Raiders put forth their best chances in the second half but could not find a way past the 25th-ranked Eagles, ultimately falling 3-0.
Amanda Parreiras nearly lit up the scoreboard in the opening minute when an extra pass from
Silvia Marchesi found the junior's foot just outside the inner box. The Eagles' netminder, however, stuffed the early opportunity.
Oklahoma Wesleyan tallied its first goal in the 18th minute to take a one-goal lead into the locker room, then tacked on a pair in the second 45 minutes to cushion its lead.
Lindsey Wilson's best look down the stretch came off a shot by
Sharon Nadunga that missed just right of the net.
Parreiras led the Blue Raiders with two shots on goal. As a team, Lindsey Wilson totaled six shots, including five in the second half.
Freshman goalkeeper
Alida Leles finished with three saves in her Blue Raider debut.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 6 p.m. CST on Wednesday, August 28 when the Blue Raiders travel to Shawnee State (Ohio).
