DECATUR, Ala.- In a hard-fought match with No. 2 William Carey University (Miss.), the Crusaders came out victorious over the Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team with a final score of 3-1.
William Carey set the tone early, with Karen Vilau finding the back of the net within the first three minutes of play. Moments later, Christina Salmon extended the Crusaders' lead, scoring with an assist from Zalma Torres.
In the second half, the Blue Raiders got on the scoreboard during the 52nd minute with a goal by
Alexandra Giusti, her first goal of the season, off a corner kick from
Silvia Marchesi The Blue Raiders increased their offensive pressure but were unable to break through William Carey's defense.
Salmon struck again in the 83rd minute, this time with Lesley Vasquez providing the assist, securing the win for the Crusaders.
William Carey dominated in shots, putting seven on goal compared to Lindsey Wilson's three, and outshooting the Blue Raiders 14-5 overall.

Alida Leles made four crucial saves for the Blue Raiders, while Anita Gudmundsdottir had two saves for William Carey.
