COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson's women soccer team began their home schedule against a fierce competitor in Spring Arbor (Mich.) on Saturday. After a hard-fought game, the Blue Raiders ultimately fell 4-1.
Ashiat Naluggwa scored the lone goal for the home side in the 80th minute, her first of the season, but it was too late to mount a comeback.
Lindsey Wilson started off aggressive in the first stages of the game with five shots in the first 25 minutes. Later in the half, the Cougars caught up to the Blue Raiders and eventually matched them in total shots, 5-5.
Sydney Wright scored for Spring Arbor in the 32nd minute to break the deadlock and send the game to halftime.
The Cougars added three second-half goals to open up a 4-0 lead before Naluggwa struck for her tally down the stretch.
All told, Spring Arbor outshot Lindsey Wilson 14-10 with Naluggwa leading the way for the Blue Raiders.
Alida Leles played the full 90 minutes in goal for Lindsey Wilson, collecting one save.
Lindsey Wilson will look to bounce back in their next home game against No. 15 Indiana Wesleyan at 4 p.m. CST on Thursday, September 12 at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
