COLUMBIA, Ky. — Lindsey Wilson women's soccer played a back-and-forth match, full of action. The game ended as a tie 2-2 against No.15 Indiana Wesleyan.
The first half had a rapid pace as both teams demonstrated their offense early on. Indiana Wesleyan's Sarah Foulk opened the scoring in the 4th minute with a well-placed shot, giving her team the lead. However, Lindsey Wilson responded with equal urgency soon after. In the 14th minute,
Silvia Marchesi scored off a penalty kick leveling the score for the Blue Raiders.
The back-and-forth play continued with Indiana Wesleyan regaining the lead in the 28th minute. Jackie Norris found the back of the net, putting her team ahead once again. In the 37th minute, Emillie Bernard scored with a header off a corner kick from Marchesi, ensuring the teams went into the half tied 2-2.
The second half was a continuation of the back-and-forth, with both teams pushing hard for the decisive goal.
Lindsey Wilson had the upper hand in shots on goal, registering seven compared to Indiana Wesleyan's five.
Despite many attempts, both goalkeepers played crucial roles in keeping the game level. Lindsey Wilson's
Alida Leles added two saves to her name and
Morgan Truitt made a notable save during her brief two-minute appearance after replacing Leles at the end of the first half. On the other side, Indiana Wesleyan's Avery Sluss was instrumental in keeping her team in the game making five critical saves.
As the final whistle blew, neither side could break the deadlock resulting in a hard-fought 2-2 draw.
Lindsey Wilson will be back in action when they travel to take on Grace College (Ind.) at 5 p.m. CST on Wednesday, September 18 in Winona Lake, Indiana.
