Winona Lake, Ind. — The Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team battled hard but fell to Grace (Ind.) 1-0 in a close match Wednesday at 1st Source Bank Field. The Blue Raiders' defense, anchored by goalkeeper
Alida Leles, showcased exceptional determination throughout the game.
Leles was a standout performer, making an impressive 11 saves to keep her team in the contest. Despite facing a storm of 12 shots on goal from Grace College, Leles' agility and skill shone through, denying the Lancers multiple scoring opportunities.
On the offensive end, Lindsey Wilson struggled to find their rhythm, managing only one shot on goal. Liza von Blumenthal registered the lone shot on goal for the Blue Raiders. Their efforts were stifled by a solid Grace College defense, which held strong and limited the Blue Raiders' chances.
Ultimately, a single goal from Grace College proved to be the difference in the 40th minute, sealing the victory for the Lancers. Despite the defeat, Lindsey Wilson's resilience on defense, particularly Leles' outstanding performance, showed ability to regroup for their next match.
Lindsey Wilson will be back in action at 5 p.m. CST on Wednesday, Sept. 25 when they open Mid-South Conference play at (RV) Bethel University (Tenn.).
