BARBOURVILLE, Ky.-- The Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw against Union Commonwealth University on Saturday at Williamson Stadium. The game showed off both teams strong defensive efforts which fought hard throughout the match.
The scoring opened in the 28th minute when Silvia Marchesi found the back of the net with a penalty kick, marking her third goal of the season. The early lead set the tone for the Blue Raiders, who continued to press offensively.
However, Union responded in the second half. In the 61st minute, Rosalinda Sanchez leveled the match with her second goal of the season, bringing new energy to the field and giving Union a sense of hope.
Despite both teams pushing for a winning goal, the match ended in a draw. Lindsey Wilson recorded five shots on goal, while Union managed two.
The Blue Raiders will look to build on their performance as they prepare for their next game at 5 PM CST on Tuesday, October 1st. The Blue Raiders welcome Freed-Hardeman (Tenn) to Walter S. Reuling Stadium for a Mid-South Conference matchup.
