McKENZIE, Tenn.- The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team opened its three game road trip with an 80-73 victory over Mid-South conference foe Bethel (Tenn.) Thursday at Crisp Arena.
The first half was a back-and-forth battle until the Blue Raiders pulled ahead at the 5:55 mark thanks to a three from Robinson that made it 25-22. From that point on, the Blue Raiders held firm of the lead throughout the rest of the game.
Cunningham's and-one sparked a 7-2 run in the beginning of the second half to push the Blue Raider lead to 48-36. Lindsey Wilson took its largest lead of the game 60-46 with just over nine minutes to play. With :46 seconds remaining in the second half, the Wildcats came up short of a comeback as they reduced the lead to five making the score 78-73 after a 7-0 run. Lindsey Wilson hit two free throws late to come away with the 80-73 victory.
The Blue Raiders shot 50.9 percent from the field and held Bethel to 41.7 percent from the field. Lindsey took advantage of the painted area as they scored 44 of their 80 points down low.
Bethel's David Starr led the Wildcats with 16 points while they also had three double- digit scorers.
The Blue Raiders are back in action at 3 p.m. CST on Saturday, January 25 when they visit No. 2 Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.).
