COLUMBIA, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball improved to 12-3 after taking down Washington Adventist 91-74 on Saturday evening, improving the Blue Raiders' home record to 7-0.
Daviel Jackson's double-double gave the Blue Raiders the lift they needed in a hard- fought non-conference game. Jackson and
Kenyata Carbon led six double-digit scorers with 19 points each.
Connor Robinson added 13 points,
Olson Nicholson and
Johrdon Mumford contributed 12 points, and
Julian Cunningham finished with 11 points to help push Lindsey Wilson past the Shock.
A strong start in the opening minutes of the first half quickly gave Lindsey Wilson a 20-9 lead. As the action continued, Lindsey Wilson held firm of the lead with assistance from Mumford's 10 points and a plus-50 percent showing from the field. The Shock answered late in the half to cut the lead to 46-44 heading into the locker room.
Washington Adventist grabbed its first lead of the game with 15:50 left in the second half after the Shock converted on a pair of free-throws. Both teams battled coming out in the second half as each side was shooting above 50 percent in the midway point of the frame. A Carbon dunk with just under 10 minutes left on the clock sparked a 22-5 run for the Blue Raiders, propelling them to their largest lead of the game. With huge second half contributions from Jackson and Carbon the Blue Raiders snapped back to their game plan to end the night strong.
Lindsey Wilson will be back in action at 7:30 p.m. CST on Thursday, January 9 to challenge top-ranked Georgetown (Ky.) and open its Mid-South Conference scheduled at Biggers Sports Center.
