Columbia, Ky.- The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team came up short against No. 1 Georgetown 73-69 in the Mid-South Conference opener Thursday at Biggers Sports Center.
The 27 point outing from
Kenyata Carbon was the fire that helped give the Blue Raiders hope after struggling from the field. It was a physical first half as the Blue Raiders trailed the Tigers 35-27. Carbon's 13 first-half points gave a spark the Blue Raiders needed off the bench that helped cut the Tigers lead to just eight after trailing by as many as 12.
The second half brought a lot of action that lifted fans out of their seats, as Lindsey Wilson was battling to get over the hump against the Tigers.
Julian Cunningham's clutch three with 2:18 left gave the Blue Raiders the confidence and hope to complete the comeback. The Tigers had an answer for every Lindsey Wilson basket. Cunningham and Daviel Jackson were the other Blue Raiders in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Georgetown's Jaquias Franklin led the way for the TIgers scoring 15 points. Tae Dozier and Andres Burney were also big contributors as they scored 13 and 12 points, respectively. .The Tigers efficient shooting beyond the arc at a 38.9 percent clip played a crucial role in helping them close out the Blue Raiders.
Lindsey Wilson will be back in action against rival Campbellsville for the Battle of Highway 55 Saturday January 11 at 3 p.m. CST at Biggers Sport Center.
