COLUMBIA, Ky. – With eight remaining regular season matches before the playoffs, the (RV) Lindsey Wilson volleyball team begins its final stretch of road contests on Saturday, October 18 in Dayton, Tennessee against Reinhardt (Ga.) and Bryan (Tenn.).
The Blue Raiders – 22-7, 5-2 Mid-South – have won their last four true road matches, hitting 0.244 in the process. Senior
Ola Wyrzykowska continues to be the primary offensive catalyst as she enters the weekend averaging 4.75 kills per set over her last five matches. The outside hitter needs 110 kills to reach the top-five of the program's all-time career kills list, and 196 to break into the top-three.
Despite sitting out Thursday night's win at Georgetown (Ky.),
Momo Hampton's 4.23 digs per set across the previous five matches leads the team.
Freshman
Duda Becho is up to a team-best 10 blocks in her last five appearances, six of which coming in the Blue Raiders' three-set victory against the Tigers. Becho is hitting 0.108 on the year with 26 kills, 15 blocks, and 11 digs in 35 sets played.
Reinhardt (18-4) visits Tennessee Wesleyan on Friday evening to try and extend its 11-match winning streak. The Eagles have not dropped a set since September 19 but three of their four losses this season have come at neutral sites.
Juliette Baffico, a junior outside hitter, leads Reinhardt's conference-leading offense with 213 kills. She also ranks second on the team from the service line (28) and on defense (178 digs). The Eagles average 2.03 blocks per set, which is fourth-best in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
Bryan (2-24) hosts Brenau on Friday with the hopes of snapping a four-match losing skid. The Lions are 0-2 this season when playing Mid-South opponents, having lost to Cumberland (Tenn.) and Cumberlands (Ky.).
It has been nine years since Lindsey Wilson and Bryan last met on the volleyball court. The Blue Raiders are 3-0 all-time versus the Lions and will play in Dayton for the first time.
As for Reinhardt, the Eagles defeated the Blue Raiders back on August 26, 2023, for their first ever win in the all-time series. Lindsey Wilson had won the previous five match-ups.
First serve between Reinhardt and Lindsey Wilson is slated for 12 p.m. CT, followed by the Blue Raiders and Bryan at 2 p.m. CT.
