FOLEY, Ala. – The Lindey Wilson archery team posted a fifth-place finish at the USA Archery 3D Collegiate Nationals Saturday at the Graham Creek Nature Preserve.
The Blue Raiders tallied 62 points to finish fifth. Rio Grande (Ohio) captured the national championship with 167 points while fellow Mid-South Conference member Cumberlands (Ky.) finished runner-up with 135.5 points.
Sarah McCarthy,
Anastacia Godman, and
Maria Sampson captured a national championship in women's barebow team. In the quarterfinals, the trio defeated William Carey (Miss.) 71-49. They punched their ticket to finals with a 73-51 victory over Campbellsville (Ky.). McCarrthy, Godman, and Sampson won the championship with a 61-51 victory over Rio Grande.
Breonna Mullett,
Micah Bettersworth, and
Raegan McGuffey finished fourth in women's recurve team. The trio defeated Pikeville (Ky.) 76-67 in the quarterfinals before falling to Cumberlands (Ky.) 84-67 in the semifinals. In the third place match, they were defeated by Lindenwood (Mo.) 80-79.
AJ Shagool,
Zach Jackson and
Mac Collins were defeated in the quarterfinals of men's recurve team by Lindenwood 94-90. Seth Pipes,
Keegan Crawford, and Cael Griffith fell in the quarterfinals in men's compound to Union Commonwealth 100-98.
In women's compound team,
Mikayla Cassady,
Kaya Williams, and Audre Mills fell to Rio Grande 90-78.
Keegan Benton,
Dylan Langley, and
LaQuann Williams were defeated by William Carey 65-53 in men's barebow team.
Gus Burtts,
Anthony Schaible, and
Will Timmerman were defeated by Muskingum (Ohio) in men's fixed pins team 92-90.
MaKenna Langley,
Madeline McGuire, and
Alexis Bollinger fell to Pikeville 83-78 in women's fixed pins team.
Burtts, Pipes, and McCarthy teamed up in the mixed equipment round. The trio defeated Union Commonwealth 121-114 in the first round before falling to Texas A&M 119-98 in the quarterfinals.
