No. 20 Dalton State Slips Past Lindsey Wilson 84-79

DALTON, Ga. – The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team came up short in a back-and-forth battle, falling 84-79 to No. 20 Dalton State (Ga.) on Saturday, November 29, inside Bandy Gym.

The Blue Raiders (7-2) had three players score in double figures. Kenyata Carbon led the way with 28 points on 10-of-14 shooting, including three threes. Latrell Kyles added 13 points and three assists, while Mihail Gavazov scored nine with five rebounds and five assists.

The first half was tight from start to finish, featuring six lead changes. Carbon's three-point play at 7:57 gave the Blue Raiders their first lead at 27-24, and baskets from Victory Naboya and Olson Nicholson helped them keep pace. Dalton State closed the half strong with a small run, taking a 43-42 lead into the break.

Lindsey Wilson opened the second half with energy as Gavazov and Cunningham hit back-to-back threes to move ahead 48-45. Pach scored inside twice, and another Gavazov three made it 56-49 with just over 14 minutes to play. The Roadrunners answered behind hot shooting from Qualen Pettus, who finished with 20 points, including five threes.

The Blue Raiders led 71-62 midway through the half before Dalton State began to rally. Pettus and Ja'Ron Briggs fueled a late surge that tied the game at 78 with just over a minute remaining. The Roadrunners converted key free throws down the stretch to escape with the 84-79 win.

The Blue Raiders return home to Biggers Sports Center on Wednesday, December 3, to host Indiana University Columbus at 6 p.m. CT.
