Men’s Basketball Rolls Past Indiana Columbus on Wednesday

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team defeated Indiana Columbus 99-78 on Wednesday night at Biggers Sports Center

The Blue Raiders (8-2) had six players in double figures, led by Mihail Gavazov with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting while going 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. Julian Cunningham added 14 points, going five for 11 and 4-of-9 from three. Kenyata Carbon scored 14 points with seven assists, while Latrell Kyles chipped in with 12. Victory Naboya recorded 11 points while grabbing a game-high nine rebounds. DJ Gordon was the final Blue Raider in double figures with 11.

Lindsey Wilson got off to a fast start, scoring 12 of the game's first 14 points. Cunningham sparked the 12-2 run with a pair of threes. After back-to-back buckets by Indiana Columbus, the Blue Raiders scored nine of the next 11 points, increasing their lead to 21-8 with 14:53 to play in the first half. The Blue Raiders increased their lead to 28-12 with a 7-0 run. During the run, Carbon scored five points. The Crimson Pride put together a 9-4 run, trimming the Lindsey Wilson lead to 39-26 with 6:12 left in the half. The two teams traded points for the remainder of the half as Lindsey Wilson led 47-34.

The Blue Raiders led 53-40 before a 9-3 Crimson Pride run trimmed the advantage to 56-49 with 15:31 remaining. Lindsey Wilson answered the Indiana Columbus run with a 10-4 run of its own to take a 66-53 lead with under 10 minutes to play. The Blue Raiders remained in control after a 13-4 run increased their lead to 82-61 with 5:27 to play. The two teams exchanged points for the remainder of the game as Lindsey Wilson earned the 99-78 victory.

The Blue Raiders are back in action on Saturday, hosting Shawnee State (Ohio) at 3 p.m. CT in Biggers Sports Center.
