MILLIGAN, Tenn. - The Lindsey Wilson baseball team (1-8) fell 7-1 and 5-3 in a doubleheader against (RV) Milligan (Tenn.) at Anglin Field on Friday afternoon.
Andres Duran and
Bryce Sidler had the hot bats for the Blue Raiders with four hits, apiece, while
Matthew Schultz contributed two extra-base hits, including his third home run of the season in game two.
Game One:
(RV) Milligan (Tenn.) 7, Lindsey Wilson 1
After going scoreless through two and a half innings, the Buffaloes got on the board first in the bottom of the third on an RBI-double to center and an RBI-single up the middle making the lead 2-0. Lindsey Wilson was held scoreless till the top of the eighth while Milligan put up another five runs. Smith scored from second base after an RBI-double from Schultz to put the Blue Raiders on the board, 7-1 but stranded three runners on the final out of the game.
Sidler led the Blue Raiders in game one at the plate going 3-for-4 with a double, two singles, and a walk on the day. Schultz went 1-for-4 and drove in the only Blue Raider run in the top of the eighth on a double that scored
Braxton Smith.
Glenn Simes (1-2) picked up the loss, pitching a total of five innings and giving up four runs on four hits, four strikeouts and two walks. Clint Chappel and
Jacob Jackson came in as relievers, pitching a combined total of two innings and allowing three runs on five hits and three strikeouts.
Game Two: (RV) Milligan 5 (Tenn.), Lindsey Wilson 3
Lindsey Wilson started off strong with hot bats in the top of the first inning as Shultz led off with a homerun giving Lindsey Wilson the early 1-0 advantage. After back-to-back outs, Sidler stepped up to the plate and was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a passed ball. Duran singled to left, scoring Sidler and putting the Blue Raiders ahead 2-0.
Kyle Lambert had a 1-2-3 inning forcing pop-ups from all three batters he faced. After going scoreless through three innings,
Tray Price doubled to left field in the top of the fifth and advanced to third on a ground out by Schultz, and scored on a wild pitch and cut the lead to 5-3.
In game two, Duran went 3-for-3 at the plate knocking in one RBI. Schultz knocked in a homerun, going 2-for-3 at the plate and driving in another run. After
Tray Price got on base, he was able to steal home on a wild pitch, scoring another run for the Blue Raiders.
Kyle Lambert started on the mound, pitching two innings, allowing five runs on four hits, one strikeout, and one walk.
Gannon Herring came in as relief, giving up no runs, on no hits, and five strikeouts.
Lindsey Wilson will be back in action at 2 p.m. CST Tuesday at Egnew Park when they take on Bryan (Tenn.).
