Men’s Basketball Falls on Senior Day to No. 4 Freed-Hardeman

COLUMBIA, Ky.- The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team comes up short on Senior Day against No. 4 Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) 91-76 Saturday in Biggers Sports Center.

Senior Connor Robinson led the Blue Raiders with 18 points, shooting 50 percent from the field. He was joined by Johrdon Mumford, who added 17 points, Julian Cunningham with 15, and Daivel Jackson contributing 12. Cunningham added a game and season-high 10 assists to complete the double-double.

In a game where it felt closer than the score tells, the Blue Raiders second half shooting at 36.7 percent gave the Lions momentum to secure the victory. The first half, however, was a back-and-forth battle, with neither team able to take full control. With 12:47 left in the first half, Isaac Weaver ignited an 11-3 run with a three-pointer assisted by Matt Khoury. The Blue Raiders fed off the energy, going a perfect 4-for-4 from the field and 3-for-3 from beyond the arc to take a 20-14 lead with under 11 minutes left in the half. The Lions responded with a 5-0 run of their own, trimming the Blue Raiders' lead to just one. Lindsey Wilson led 26-22 before Freed-Hardeman went on a 9-1 run to take a 31-27 lead. Off the bench, Khoury gave Lindsey Wilson a crucial boost, scoring all nine of his first-half points from beyond the arc on 60 percent shooting. As the half wound down, Cunningham fought through contact to convert a tough layup, cutting the Lions' lead to 42-38 heading into halftime.

Early in the second half, Jackson drained a mid-range jumper with 15:58 remaining, bringing the Blue Raiders within two. Freed-Hardeman remained composed, answering with an 8-2 run to push their lead to double digits. Lindsey Wilson struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities, while the Lions found their rhythm, shooting 56.3 percent from the floor and 50 percent from three in the second half. Unable to close the gap, the Blue Raiders fell 91-76.

Freed-Hardeman's Peyton Law led all scorers with 30 points on an efficient 11-for-13 shooting. His teammates Ryley McClaran, Phil Horton, and Blake Dean also reached double figures, securing the win for the fourth-ranked Lions.

Blue Raiders men's basketball will be back in action against rival Campbellsville for the Battle of Highway 55 Thursday at 6:30 CST in Powell Athletic Center.
