Lindsey Wilson Falls to Campbellsville 84-64 in "Battle of Highway 55"

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.- The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team comes up short against Campbellsville (Ky.) in the "Battle of Highway 55" 84-64 at the Powell Athletic Center. 


Daivel Jackson led the Blue Raiders with a 21 point double-double grabbing a game-high 10 rebounds while shooting 50 percent from the field. Johrdon Mumford added 14 points, and Julian Cunningham contributed 11, making them the only other Blue Raiders to score in double figures. As a team, Lindsey Wilson shot 38.3 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from the arc. 



In a Mid-South Conference battle, the Blue Raiders (15-11, 2-8 MSC) and Tigers (12-15, 2-9 MSC) battled tightly throughout the first half. At the 12:46 mark, Campbellsville held the largest lead of the half, up by six 15-9. Back-to-back threes from Cunningham and Mumford tied the game at 15 with 11:40 remaining. Neither team not letting up as the half wound down, Campbellsville closed on an 8-2 run to take a 38-34 lead into the break. Despite Lindsey Wilson shooting just 37.5 percent from the field, they remained within striking distance. Mumford played a crucial role, leading the Blue Raiders with 14 points on an efficient 5-of-7 shooting. 



As the second half progressed, the Blue Raiders and Tigers kept the game tight, keeping fans on the edge of their seats. Campbellsville held a three-point lead over Lindsey Wilson until Connor Robinson converted on a tough layup, cutting the lead to one. Despite the close battle, the Blue Raiders struggled to take control, falling behind by six with 9:19 remaining. The Tigers then surged ahead with a decisive 10-3 run, stretching their lead to 66-53. With time slipping away, the Blue Raiders found themselves stalled as Campbellsville took advantage of their momentum, shooting 55 percent from the field and extending their lead to a game-high 20 points. 



Kam Vick led Campbellsville with a 22 point performance, while Jay Milburn and Coby Penny also contributed in double figures with 15 and 12 points. 



The Blue Raiders will play in the final game of the regular season Saturday against Cumberland (Tenn.) at 3 p.m. CT at Dallas Floyd Phoenix Arena.
