Men's Basketball Scores Road Win at Cumberland to Wrap up Regular Season

LEBANON, Tenn. - The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team dropped Mid-South Conference opponent Cumberland (Tenn.) 84-74 Saturday at Dallas Floyd Phoenix Arena.

In a total-team effort, the Blue Raiders had all five starters score in double figures, led by Julian Cunningham with 19 points. Daivel Jackson had himself a day, dropping another double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Johrdon Mumford and Isaac Weaver each had 14 points, and Connor Robinson added 11 points. The Blue Raiders shot 51 percent from the field, including 8-of-19 from behind the arc, and converted on 24-of-28 from the free throw line.

Entering Saturday on a four-game losing streak, the Blue Raiders came back to life for a crucial win and a momentum builder ahead of the Mid-South Conference tournament. Lindsey Wilson struggled early, trailing Cumberland 21-14 with 10:10 remaining in the first half. However, a Mumford 3-pointer ignited a 13-5 run, shifting the momentum in the Blue Raiders' favor. Lindsey Wilson closed the half strong with a 7-2 scoring swing to head into the break up 32-27.

Both sides demonstrated intensity and physicality in the second half. With 15:12 remaining, the Blue Raiders broke away with a 10-2 run, once again fueled by Mumford, who scored six points in that stretch. Despite Cumberland's efforts, the Phoenix could not overcome the deficit. Lindsey Wilson maintained control, closing out the game by knocking down clutch 3-pointers and capitalizing on 21-of-24 attempts from the foul line in the final 20 minutes.

The Blue Raiders turn their attention to the Mid-South Conference tournament which opens on Sunday, March 2 in Bowling Green. The official tournament brakcet is slated to be released on Saturday evening.
