Women's Track Opens Outdoor Schedule with a Win In Williamsburg

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's track and field team claimed first place at the Cumberlands Early Spring Meet in Williamsburg, Kentucky. 

The Blue Raiders accumulated
a total of 141 points across various events. They earned 51 points in sprints, 34 points in relays, 26 points in throws, 18 points in jumps, and 8 points in hurdles. 

Lindsey Wilson had an outstanding performance, securing three first-place finishes. In the 4x100 meter relay, the A team consisting of Hannah Reid, Jozlen Brisbon, Kyra Engel, and Jermani Morris took first place with a time of 46.96, setting an NAIA "B" standard. The B team, featuring Ophiellia Bernard, Isabel Urrutia Lemus, Charm Rone, and Deloris Boateng, finished third with a time of 50.57. 


Reid also competed in the 4x400 meter relay, joining Kayly Guthrie, Anna Grasse, and Ta'shya Cramer  to win first place with a time of 4:00.36. The C team, consisting of Boateng, Bernard, Engel, and Urrutia Lemus, finished second at 4:23.65. Urrutia Lemus excelled in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing second
with a time of 14.57. 

Rosemond Owusu had a standout day, taking first place in the high jump with a leap of 1.54 meters and second in the long jump with a distance of 5.00 meters. 


In the 400-meter dash, Reid finished second with a time of 55.15, followed closely by Cramer in third at 58.99. Grasse placed fifth
with a time of 1:00.14, while Alisha Claycomb 1:02.99 and Sancia Smith 1:03.02 finished seventh and eighth, respectively. 

The Blue Raiders had a strong showing in the 100-meter dash, with Brisbon placing second at 12.36 seconds, Morris finishing third at 12.48, Bernard fourth at 12.59, and Engel sixth with a time of 12.75.


In the 800-meter run, Alejandra Recarey finished sixth with a time of 2:34.27, and Zoe Wilson placed eighth with a time of 2:50.09. Morris and Urrutia Lemus also competed in the 200-meter dash, finishing fourth and sixth, respectively. 


Reagan Cheatham delivered a solid performance in the shot put, finishing second with a throw of 11.61 meters. 


The Blue Raiders will be back in action March 20-22 for the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
