Blue Raiders Rally From Seven-Run Deficit to Defeat Pikeville 9-8

COLUMBIA, Ky.- The Lindsey Wilson baseball team came back from a seven-run deficit to defeat Pikeville (Ky.) 9-8 Tuesday at Egnew Park. 

Tray Price, Andres Duran, and Jackson Steele led the Blue Raiders at the plate each contributing a homerun, as well as a combined 6-RBIs between the three. Bryce Sidler and Maddox Terrance also tallied an RBI in Lindsey Wilson's comeback win over Pikeville 

Reed Marcum picked up the win on the mound pitching 0.2 innings, facing three batters and giving up zero runs on zero hits with one strikeout and no walks. Spencer Garner pitched 4.2 innings giving up two runs on five hits with three strikeouts and one walk. Jacob Jackson also contributed 3.2 innings, allowing six runs on nine hits, three walks, and two strikeouts 

The Blue Raiders trailed 8-6 headed into the bottom of the ninth frame, after holding the Bears to zero runs in the last four innings. Tray Price led off the bottom of the ninth with a solo shot, pulling LWC within one at 8-7 with no outs. Drake Young represented the tying run as he stepped to the plate and got hit by the pitch. Andres Duran entered the batter's box as the go-ahead run and singled to right field, advancing Young to second. Bryce Sidler picked up an RBI as he singled to left field, scoring Davis from second who entered to pinch run for Young. Sidler and Duran advanced to second and third after a wild pitch, bringing in Trace Stringer to pinch run for Duran on third. Jackson Steele knocked in the winning run on an RBI-single to center, scoring Stringer to complete the 9-8 comeback. 

Lindsey Wilson got on the board in the bottom of the fifth frame after falling behind 8-0 early. Steele sent a solo shot over the left field wall, cutting the Bears lead to 8-1 heading into the top of the sixth. 

Sidler led off the bottom of the seventh after getting hit by a pitch and advancing to second as Steele was walked. With one out and runners on first and second, Maddox Terrance stepped to the plate to pinch hit and connected on an RBI-single, scoring Sidler. Price picked up an RBI-single with the bases loaded and reached on a fielder's choice, scoring the runner from third to trail 8-3, and advancing Terrance to third. Lindsey Wilson picked up another run on the next play when Terrance advanced on a wild pitch,  followed by a Duran 2-RBI single to right field, pulling the Blue Raiders within two runs at 8-6. 

Blue Raider baseball will be back in action on March 7 and 8 in Lawrenceville, Georgia, at Grizzly Baseball Complex for a three-team, two-day series. On day one, Lindsey Wilson will face Thomas University (Ga.) at 9 a.m. CST and Georgia Gwinnett at 5 p.m. CST, and on day two, at 10 a.m. CST and 1 p.m. CST, respectively.
