Blue Raiders Close Out Regular Season With Loss to Campbellsville

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.- The Blue Raiders baseball team closed out the regular season with a 21-3 Mid-South Conference loss to Campbellsville at Hig Baseball Field, Saturday afternoon. 

Amir Pineiro led Lindsey Wilson at the plate, going 2-for-3 on the day with a double. Matt Schultz and Andres Duran went 1-for-3 in the batter's box, both tallying an RBI. Glenn Simes picked up the loss for the Blue Raiders, firing 1.0 inning, and giving up seven runs on six hits, with one strikeout and two walks.

Lindsey Wilson fell behind 3-0 early after being held scoreless in the first frame, as Campbellsville tacked on three runs. Chance Stayton led off the top of the second, doubling to right-center field. Tucker Hagan singled to the shortstop and advanced Stayton to third, putting runners on the corners for Diego Andino. Andino hit into a double play, but scored Stayton to trail 3-1. The Tigers tacked on five more runs in the bottom of the frame on five hits, to extend their lead to 8-1..

Pineiro led off the top of the third, doubling to left field, bringing in Tray Price to pinch run on second as he advanced to third on a passed ball. Schultz singled up the middle, scoring Price, cutting the deficit to 8-2. Schultz stole second, placing him in scoring position with Duran coming to the plate. Duran doubled to left center, scoring Schultz, to trail 8-3 headed into the bottom of the frame. 

Campbellsville held the Blue Raiders scoreless the rest of the game, tacking on 13 more runs to end the game in seven innings, 21-3. 

The Lindsey Wilson baseball team will be back in action for the Mid-South Conference Tournament, beginning Tuesday night and continuing into Saturday. Schedules and times will be released per conference officials on Saturday night.
