Blue Raiders Drop Game Three to Georgetown 13-9

COLUMBIA, Ky.- The Blue Raider baseball team ended their three-game Mid-South Conference series with Georgetown on a 13-9 loss in Egnew Park, dropping the series 1-2. 

Jackson Steele led the offense, going 4-for-4 and tallying three RBIs on the day. Chance Stayton went 3-for-4 on the day with a triple and a run. Diego Andino had the only Blue Raider home run of the day on 2-of-4 at the plate. Reed Marcum (1-1) picked up the loss, pitching 2.1 innings and giving up five runs on two hits with two strikeouts and two walks. 

 Lindsey Wilson struck first in the bottom of the first frame after Stayton tripled to center field and Bryce Sidler singled through the left side, scoring Stayton from third for an early 1-0 lead. Andino singled to center field, advancing Sidler to second. Sidler and Andino advanced to third and second, with Sidler scoring and Andino advancing to third on a wild pitch, to give Lindsey Wilson a 2-0 lead headed into the second. 

Georgetown answered back with a two-run home run, to tie the game back at 2-2, before holding the Blue Raiders scoreless in the second frame. 

The Tigers put up two more runs in the top of the third on a single hit, leading 4-2. Caden Davis led off the bottom of the frame, singling to left center, with Stayton and Sidler being walked back-to-back, loading the bases as Andino stepped into the box. Andino boarded first as the pitcher bobbled the ball, scoring Davis from third, cutting the deficit to 4-3. Tucker Hagan reached on a fielder's choice with the bases loaded, as Stayton was caught in a force out at home. Steele singled through the left side, scoring Sidler from third, tying the game at 4-4. Andres Duran came in as a pinch hitter for Gray Colvin, and connected on a SAC-fly to center field, allowing Andino to score from third after tagging up, to give the Blue Raiders back a 5-4 advantage.

Lindsey Wilson was held scoreless in the fourth inning, after the Tigers tallied two more runs to regain a 6-5 lead, entering the top of the fifth.

Jack Ballou faced five batters in the top of the fifth, giving up a hit and a walk while causing the other three batters to pop-up for easy outs. Sidler led off with a single up the middle for the Blue Raiders, followed by an Andino walk, to put runners on first and second. Hagan layed down a SAC-bunt, advancing Andino and Sidler to second and third. Steele connected on a two-RBI single to center field, scoring Sidler and Andino, to give a 7-6 lead back to Lindsey Wilson headed into the top of the sixth. 

The Blue Raiders held the Tigers scoreless through the sixth and seventh innings before tacking on a run of their own. Steele connected on a single and took second on an error by the left fielder with Tray Price coming in to pinch run on second. Price stole third, putting him in position to score with Colvin up to bat. Colvin singled through the right side, into left field, scoring Price to extend the score to 8-6.

Georgetown tied the game back at 8-8 in the top of the eighth on a homerun and an RBI-single, and held the Blue Raiders scoreless, tacking on five more runs in the top of the ninth to take a 13-8 advantage. Andino led off the bottom of the ninth with a solo shot over the right field wall to cut the deficit to 13-9, scoring the final Blue Raider run as they dropped the third game of the series.

The Blue Raider baseball team will be back in action tomorrow on Tracy Farmer Field in Don Ball Stadium at 3 pm CST to face Midway University (Ky.) for a single-game matchup. Live stats and video will be available.
