Women’s Track & Field Second After First Day of MSC Outdoor Championships

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's outdoor track and field team turned in a strong performance on the opening day of the Mid-South Conference Outdoor Championships at James H. Taylor II Stadium in Williamsburg, Kentucky. 


The Blue Raiders sit in second place with 56 points trailing Cumberlands(Ky.) who has 97 points in the first day of events. 



In the track events Hannah Reid finished first in the 100-meter prelims with a time of 11.91 seconds. Kayly Guthrie followed right behind her placing second with a time of 12.30. Kyra Engle, Jermani Morris, and Jozlen Brisbon finished in fourth, fifth, and seventh with times of 12.59, 12.60, and 12.67. Reid finished second in the 200-meter prelims with a time of 24.66 while Guthrie was fifth finishing in 25.08.



Alejandra Recarey placed third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase claiming All-Conference with a time of 12:51.30. Eliza Hagens claimed first in the 5,000-meter walk with a time of 29:06.21 claiming NAIA 'B' standard and All-Conference. Recarey also competed finishing third with a time of 32.42.18 claiming All-Conference. 



In the field events Reagan Cheatham finished in first place in the hammer throw throwing 45.85 meters claiming All-Conference. Nevaeh Acklin placed seventh with a throw of 37.39 meters. Mine Iscen threw 21.19 meters in the javelin throw, placing sixth. 



The Blue Raiders also had a strong showing in the long jump. Rosemond Owusu finished third with a leap of 5.42 meters, earning All-Conference honors. Destiny Barnes and Charm Rone followed closely, finishing fourth with 5.34 meters and fifth with 5.32 meters. 



In the 4x800-meter relay Sancia Smith, Recarey, Olivia Rudder, Paula Martin-Lopez placed fifth with a time of 10:51.26. Iscen holds first place in the Heptathlon that will conclude tomorrow. 



Lindsey Wilson will look to build on this momentum and close out the Mid-South Conference Championships strong at 9 a.m. CT Monday at James H. Taylor II Stadium.
