Women’s Soccer Falls in Season Opener to Oakland City

COLUMBIA, Ky.- The Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team opened the 2025 season with a 4-0 loss to Oakland City at Ray Wells Field at Walter Reuling Stadium.

Oakland City (1-0) held a slight 15-14 edge in total shots and out shot the Blue Raiders (0-1) 10-1 in shots on goal. Amanda Parreiras led Lindsey Wilson with four shots while Lara Rocha had the lone shot on goal. Demi Serman recorded six saves in the match.

In the early stages of the match, both Oakland City and Lindsey Wilson spent time testing one another's defenses. The Blue Raiders came out aggressive, taking the first three shots of the contest within the opening four minutes of play.

The Mighty Oaks began to control possession, testing freshman goalkeeper Serman, who recorded her first career save in the 16th minute. Serman continued to stand strong with additional stops in the 17th, 18th, and 23rd minutes. Oakland City's Berta Del Hoyo Borre finally broke through in the 24th minute to open the scoring. Just over a minute later, Macey Woolcock doubled the lead, finding the net at the 26th minute mark to put the Mighty Oaks ahead 2-0 over the Blue Raiders.

At the start of the second half, Blue Raider Emily Good fired a shot in the 47th minute, but it was blocked, keeping the team scoreless. In a physical contest on both sides, the Blue Raiders controlled much of the possession through the middle portion of the match. Oakland City's Macey Woolcock added her second goal of the game in the 77th minute, extending the Mighty Oaks' lead. In the 86th minute, the Mighty Oaks extended their lead to 4-0 as Sara Espinosa found the back of the net.

Lindsey Wilson will face Union Commonwealth University (Ky.) in another home match up on Tuesday at Ray Wells Field at Walter S. Reuling Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
