Men’s Soccer Draws with Indiana Wesleyan in Top-15 Showdown

COLUMBIA, Ky.- The No.12 Blue Raiders faced the No.10 Wildcats of Indiana Wesleyan for an early season Top-15 showdown, ending the night with a 1-1 draw on Monday at Ray Wells Field at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.. 

Michael Rempel and Dominic Ayella picked up an assist apiece tonight as Milan Diao tallied his first goal of the season. The Blue Raiders (1-0-1) outshot Indiana Wesleyan (1-0-1) 21-6 with five being on-goal compared to the Wildcats two

Lindsey Wilson was held scoreless in the first half despite having several opportunities to score. Of their six shots taken, none were considered to be on goal with many attempts missing above the crossbar. 

Indiana Wesleyan struck first in the 18th minute taking an early 1-0 advantage. With less than two minutes remaining in the first half, the Wildcats fired and made a goal thinking they had increased their lead, before it was waved off for offsides. The Blue Raiders trailed 1-0 headed into the half.  

The Blue Raiders scored the lone goal in the second half off a cross from Juliano Manfro to Rempel  and Ayella who passed the ball to Diao in the 70th minute for his first goal of the season. Lindsey Wilson tallied 15 shots with five on goal while limiting the Wildcats to just one shot in the final 45 minutes. 

Men's soccer will be back in action on Saturday at 6 p.m. CT to take on Lawrence Tech (Mich.) in  Lawrenceville, Georgia for a neutral site match.
