Women's Soccer Draws With (RV) Grace

COLUMBIA,Ky-. The Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team finished with a 2-2 draw against (RV) Grace (Ind.) Friday at Ray Wells Field at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
Both teams stuck to their offensive game plans, playing aggressively throughout the match. The Lancers recorded 14 total shots, including eight on goal, while the Blue Raiders tallied nine shots with seven on goal.

In the opening 10 minutes, both teams were patient, feeling each other out without a single shot attempt. After a few missed opportunities where Lindsey Wilson (1-3-1) couldn't convert on goal, the breakthrough came in the 19th minute. A free kick from Amanda Parrerias went low to the left of the net, rebounding to Efua Asabel, who buried it in the middle of the goal to give the Blue Raiders a 1-0 lead, the first goal scored on the Lancers all season.

(RV) Grace College (Ind.) began to feel the pressure, recording their first shot in the 23rd minute by Nora Pollack, but goalkeeper Demi Serman came up with the save to keep the Blue Raiders' lead. Both the Lancers and Blue Raiders turned more aggressive, trading shot attempts but failing to convert as the first half ended.

As the second half opened, the Lancers tested goalkeeper Serman early with a shot in the first 40 seconds of play. Just two minutes later, Grace College stayed aggressive, firing another attempt on goal, but Serman held strong to keep them scoreless. In the 57th minute, with possession favoring Grace, the Blue Raiders stood firm as Pollack created a chance of her own, sending a shot just wide to the right as Lindsey Wilson maintained its lead.

The Lancers stuck to their aggressive game plan, and in the 66th minute Ellie Grieser struck from deep, sending a shot out of Serman's reach and into the top right corner of the net to put Grace College on the board with their first goal of the match. A corner kick from Audrey Abel sailed past the Blue Raiders' defense and curved into the top right of the net, putting the Lancers ahead 2-1. In the thrilling final seconds, a foul against Grace gave the Blue Raiders a free kick, and Parreiras capitalized to level the score at 2-2. The match ended in a draw, marking the first blemish on the Lancers' record.

Lindsey Wilson will be back at home to open Mid-South Conference play against Georgetown College (Ky.) on Tuesday September 16 at 5 p.m. on Ray Wells Field at Walter Reuling S. Stadium.
