2025-26 Women’s Golf Season Preview

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The 2025-26 Lindsey Wilson women's golf season gets underway on Monday at the Carey Collegiate at Canebrake Country Club in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

The Blue Raiders captured their second straight Mid-South Conference title last season. Lindsey Wilson finished ninth at the NAIA National Championship, setting a program record for a four-round score with a 1223.

Consistency has been the key emphasis for the Blue Raiders, according to head coach Chris Butler. "We feel as a team, if we can be consistent day in day out with our work, then by the end of the season we will be in a position to be successful, " Butler said.

Lindsey Wilson will be replacing Butpapaporn Sukterm and Pitchayapa Pungpho. Sukterm was the MSC Golfer of the Year and a First Team NAIA All-American. Pungpho was the MSC Freshman of the Year and a third-team All-American. The Blue Raiders return Second Team All-Mid-South Conference honorees in Tara Laverty and Kayla Saunders.

On the expectations for this season, Butler added, "We expect to be successful in the classroom and in the community. Our goal is to put ourselves in a position to be prepared to compete at the end of the year."

"Some good takeaways from last season is that we fully know what it takes, it's just about staying patient and going one step at a time, don't get caught up in instant results," said Butler. Trust the process and just try to get the most out of the day at hand."

Butler expects returner Holly Murphy and newcomer Thanaporn Buakong to make an impact for the Blue Raiders. " Holly is entering her sophomore year," Butler says. "She has continued since her arrival to improve in every area of the game. She's an extremely hard worker and very competitive. I fully expect her to make a big jump."

"Buakong has been phenomenal since she arrived. Her game is very consistent across the board. I think she has all the tools to be a high-caliber player within both the conference and the NAIA."

The first round of the Carey Collegiate gets underway Monday morning at Canebrake Country Club.
