No.3 Blue Raiders Host No.13 Phoenix for Top-15 Showdown

COLUMBIA, Ky.- The No.3 Blue Raiders lace up their cleats to face the No.13 Phoenix of Cumberland University (Tenn.) at 7 P.M. CT on Ray Wells Field at Walter S. Reuling Stadium Wednesday night. 

Lindsey Wilson (8-0-1, 2-0 MSC) picked up their most recent victory on the road against Highway 55 rival Campbellsville (Ky.), 2-1. Dominic Ayella and Milan Diao lead the Blue Raiders in the goal column with six and five, respectively. Michael Rempel leads the team in assists with six, as well as a goal. Ayella and Juliano Manfro have tallied four assists apiece. Francois Djiba (7-0-1, 2-0 MSC) has defended the net for Lindsey Wilson this season, saving 28 of the 31 shots he has faced, yielding a 0.903 save percentage. 

LWU has outscored opponents 26 to four on the season, averaging 2.89 goals per game. The Blue Raiders have posted 200 shot attempts, while only giving up 67. 73 percent of Lindsey Wilson's goals have been assisted on, tallying 19 assists on 26 goals. 

The Phoenix (8-1-2, 0-1 MSC) is coming off a 13-0 shutout of the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy in St. Louis (Mo.). Philipp Schmidtke leads the offense, totaling 10 goals and eight assists, while Miguel Gelabert and Pau Ortega contribute eight goals apiece. Eric Zalaya holds a goalie record of 8-1-2, saving 27 of the 45 shots he has faced, allowing 18 goals. 

Cumberland has outshot opponents 207-108, scoring 46 to their opponents' 20 goals. The Phoenix are averaging 4.018 goals a game, allowing 1.82. 

This will be the 36th all-time meeting between the two programs with the Blue Raiders dominating a 27-7-1 record. LWU took the last match-up 4-1 in Lebanon, Tenn. on October 29, 2024. 

Men's soccer will be back in action on Wednesday night at 7 P.M. CT to face the No.13 Phoenix on Ray Wells Field at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
