Men's Soccer Takes on No. 23 Rio Grande

COLUMBIA, Ky.- The No. 7-Ranked Blue Raiders begin their three-game home stand with No.23-Ranked Rio Grande (Ohio) at 7 P.M. CT Saturday on Ray Wells Field at Walter S. Reuling Stadium. 

Lindsey Wilson is off to a hot start this season, sitting at 3-0-1 with a notable  1-1 tie against then- No.10 Indiana Wesleyan and a 3-1 victory over the previous (RV) Georgia Gwinnett. LWU has outscored opponents 8-2 on the season and outshot opponents 78-24. Milan Diao leads the Blue Raider offense with two goals. Michael Rempel and Dominic Ayella lead the assists column with three and two, respectively, while also tacking on a goal. Francois Djiba leads the defense with a 2-0-1 record, tallying seven saves, giving up just one goal. 

Rio Grande sits at 1-1-2 to start the season, with their most recent loss coming from a 4-1 decision in favor of No.11-Ranked Bethel (Ind.). The Red Storm have scored four goals in four games, outshooting opponents 48-35, with 23 being on goal. Harry Walsh, Tommy Munoz Salazar, Facundo Rossich, and Hugo Ferreira have tallied a goal, with Lucas O'Donnell leading the way with two assists. Goalkeeper Samy Hamou (1-1-2) has started and played all four games, recording 15 saves, allowing six goals. 

This will be the 19th contest between the Blue Raiders and Red Storm, with LWU taking the 9-7-2 advantage. Lindsey Wilson has a 4-3-1 record at home versus Rio Grande, but has not won a match against the Red Storm since Nov. 8, 2012, at home. The Blue Raiders sit at 0-4-2 in the last six matchups between the two programs. 

LWU will step onto Ray Wells Field at Walter S. Reuling Stadium Saturday night at 7 P.M. CT, looking to end its winless drought against Rio Grande. Live Stats and Video will be available on the Lindsey Wilson Sports page.
