COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson baseball team dropped the series finale to Trinity Christian (Ill.) on Friday, 6-2 at Egnew Park.
The Blue Raiders (2-3) tallied just five hits in the loss.
Keith Stewart drove in the only Lindsey Wilson runs with a two-run home run.
Easton Talley got the start for Lindsey Wilson, pitching 3-1/3 innings, allowing four runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and two walks. Brenden Butcher pitched 3-2/3 innings of relief, allowing three hits, two walks, and recording one strikeout.
Levi Wade threw one inning, giving up two runs on four hits, while
Colyer White threw a scoreless inning.
Trinity Christian (4-2) struck first in the first inning, scoring three runs. Following a leadoff flyout, three straight hits by the Trolls gave Trinity Christian a 1-0 lead. The Trolls added to their lead with a two-RBI single, making it 3-0. Amir Pineiro drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the first. Following a flyout, Stewart hit a two-run home run, trimming the Blue Raider deficit to 3-2.
The Trolls increased their lead to 4-2 with a sacrifice fly in the top half of the fourth inning.
Diego Andino ended a run of 10 straight Blue Raiders retired with a two-out single to right in the bottom of the fourth.
Orion Hahm-Taklender reached on an error putting runners on first and second. The Blue Raiders were unable to capitalize on the error as Blaine Bradford went down on strikes.
Lindsey Wilson had runners on first and second with no outs in the bottom of the fifth after back-to-back singles. Silas Noe replaced Matthew Toledo on the mound and retired the next three Blue Raiders, ending the Lindsey Wilson threat. Trinity Christian added to its lead with a two-RBI double in the eighth inning.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Tuesday, hosting Pikeville (Ky.) at 2 p.m. CT at Egnew Park.
